Coaching is an incredible tool for self development and self discovery for people who are committed to making positive changes in their life.
How does it work?
We work together usually over 6 x 1 hour sessions; these might be weekly, fortnightly or monthly - whatever we agree. We establish where you’d like to get to by the end of the 6 sessions and in each session I help you to explore ways you can get towards your goal/s. You come up with actions and things you can do between the sessions to work on achieving your goal/s.
It is not counselling or therapy - I am not trained in that, although it can be a therapeutic experience. The main difference is that counselling focusses mainly on exploring the past, whereas coaching is future-focussed.
Typically, a client will have an issue that they’d like to unpick or something they want to make some progress on, be that career progression, wellbeing or something else entirely.
I have coached people on building confidence, overcoming self-doubt, feeling stuck (in career, personal life, or emotionally/mentally stuck), changing unhelpful behaviour, time management, stress management, fitness and diet goals, discovering and taking next steps in life/work.
My role as coach is to act as your thinking partner and to ask questions that illicit new thinking and ideas, and also to challenge things like assumptions and unhelpful thought patterns. I will use Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and other coaching tools to support and enhance our conversations, and promote new insights and self awareness.
